Samsung Electronics has announced its premium Samsung memory cards for sale in Taiwan starting from October 2009. The new "Plus" memory cards, which comply with the Secure Digital class 6 ratings for performance, are available in SD, microSD and Compact Flash (CF) formats in 4GB and 8GB densities, plus a 16GB density SDHC card.
Most of the new Samsung premium Plus memory cards can read data at 17MB/s, though the CF cards provide read speeds of up to 45MB/s, according to the company. Designed to ensure that valuable data is not lost, the cards are shock-resistant, water-resistant and protected from damage caused by magnetic interference, Samsung highlighted.
Samsung estimated the NAND flash-memory retail market may have reached US$12 billion in revenues annually. As a result of continued dramatic growth in the mobile phone market, digital memory card demand is projected to more than double between 2008 and 2011. Citing iSuppli, more than 61% of mobile phones will include a card slot for additional flash card storage by 2011, compared to 51% of mobile phones with card slots in 2008.
Samsung said its own-brand memory cards will also be available in other select countries at a later date. The competition extends in every country. That brings costumers benefit, more brand under select, price lower than before. People can choose the suitable memory cards.
